Sprinting

The Sprinting Championship consists of 6 rounds with 5 to count held at active and decommissioned RAF airfields around East Anglia. These include RAF Woodbridge near Ipswich and RAF Honington near Burry St. Edmunds. The events are divided into different classes depending on the machines engine capacity, the age of the machine, and if the machine is road legal or not. The class Team Turner will be competing in is the 'Up to 250cc Road Legal pre 1984'. We are hoping to introduce a second bike latter on in the season; this will be entered into the 'Up to 250cc Racing' class.

Enduros

Team Turner will be entering a selection of 1-Man and 2-Man Eastern Centre ACU Enduros throughout the season when they do not clash with our other sporting activities (namely the powerboat racing). These events are held at various locations around East Anglia. The courses normally consist of a mixture of farmland and woodland.

Foxborough Quarry Endurothon 4th March 2007

This event is run by Sudbury MCC and is a 7 hour enduro that can be entered as either a two-man team or as a solo ironman if you are feeling particularly tough. Dale entered this event as part of a two-man team, partnering Russell Rockyard. The course was approximately 3 miles in length and consisted of farmland, ditches, woodland, and bogs. This was Dales first time back on the enduro bike since he broke his leg , and was his first competitive outing on the WR. Due to the weather conditions prior to the event the course was very wet and slick with deep ruts soon appearing. With the course and weather conditions deteriorating as the event went on, its length was reduced to 5 hours instead of the full 7 hours. The team's performance was credible considering the challenging conditions. The team finished 30th out of 44 teams in the Clubman class. The team could have finished a few places higher but with the deteriorating course Russell was unlucky to get his bike stuck up to the seat in one of the very wet and stodgy parts of the course. By the time the bike had been dug out of the mud the team decided that they had seen enough mud for one day and handed in their time card. On the whole the event was very enjoyable but it would have been nice if it had been a little drier!
