European F:250 Championship San Nazzaro, Italy (13th - 14th July) The European F:250 Championship is a one round event comprising of four races with the best three counting to the overall position. Unfortunately Wayne had to miss this event, as he was waiting for his boat to be repaired after it sustained significant damage in a crash at Boretto earlier in the year. World F:250 Championship The World F:250 Championship is a three round series for the 250cc Outboard Hydroplanes. It is open to all drivers from around the world. Round 1 is in Boretto, Italy (1st - 2nd June), Round 2 is in Mora, Sweden (26th - 27th July), and Round 3 is in Ternopil, Ukraine (24th - 25th August). Round 1 - Boretto, Italy (1st - 2nd June) At the first round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Boretto, Italy Wayne qualified in 6th position, with pole going to Claudio Fanzini and Max Cremona second. Wayne got a good start and was in 4th place when on the second lap he hit a very large piece of wood that was floating down the river throwing him from the boat. Wayne escaped with only bumps and bruises but the boat suffered significant damage forcing his retirement from the remainder of the event. The event win went to Claudio Fanzini, with Andrea Ongari second and Ingo Hepner third. The second round of the series will be held in Mora, Sweden on the 26th - 27th July. Round 2 - Mora, Sweden (26th - 27th July) Unfortunately Wayne had to miss this event, as he was waiting for his boat to be repaired after it sustained significant damage in a crash at Boretto earlier in the year. Round 3 - Ternopil, Ukraine (24th - 25th August) At the third and final round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Ternopil, Ukraine Wayne was showing good pace and qualified 3rd, pole went to Claudio Fanzini with Andrea Ongari second. At the start of the first race Wayne's engine bogged down dropping him to the back of the field, but he put in a good drive and recovered to finish in 5th. The win went to Fanzini, with Ongari second and David Loukotka third. The engine problem was caused by an unexplained drop in battery voltage so parts of the electrical system were replaced for the next race as a precaution. In the second race Wayne got an ok start but got squeezed and lost a position, crossing the line in 6th. The win again went to Fanzini, with Ongari second and Loukotka third. In the third and final race Wayne made a good start and gained two places to cross the line in 4th. Fanzini made it three from three with again Ongari second and Loukotka third. Wayne finished in 5th place overall with Claudio Fanzini taking the win, Andrea Ongari was second and David Loukotka third. This result meant Wayne finished in 8th position in the world championship despite only scoring points in one of the three rounds. Claudio Fanzini took gold, with silver going to Andrea Ongari silver and bronze to Ingo Hepner. Photos of the event can be found here. Overall Standings
