European F:250 Championship

Chodziez, Poland (24th - 25th June)

The European F:250 Championship is a one round event comprising of four races with the best three counting to the overall position.

At the UIM F:250 European Championship held in Chodziez, Poland Wayne was suffering from engine problems all event resulting in him lacking top speed. In qualifying he could only manage to set the 6th fastest time. Pole position went to Max Cremona, with Nicola Todorov second and Ingo Hepner third. Wayne's problems got worse as the weekend went on and finished in a disappointing 7th position in the final standings. Nicola Todorov was crowned European Champion, with Max Cremona taking solver and Ingo Hepner the bronze. Wayne's next event will be the fourth and final found of the World Championships, which takes place in Bad Sarrow, Germany on the 15th - 16th September.

World F:250 Championship

The World F:250 Championship is a four round series for the 250cc Outboard Hydroplanes. It is open to all drivers from around the world. Round 1 is in Jedovnice, Czech Republic (13th - 14th May), Round 2 is in Znin, Poland (3rd - 4th June), Round 3 is in Boretto, Italy (17th - 18th June), and Round 4 is in Bad Saarow, Germany (15th - 16th September).

Round 1 - Jedovnice, Czech Republic (13th - 14th May)

For the first round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Jedovnice, Czech Republic Wayne was showing a good turn of speed and qualified on pole, second fastest was Max Cremona with Nikola Todorov third. In the first race Wayne's start was a little slow and was running in second when the race was stopped. Again for the restart Wayne dropped another position to finish the race third. The win went to Cremona with Todorov second. For the second race Wayne's start was improved and finished in second, with Cremona taking the win and Heiko Schmidt coming home in third. At the start of the third and final race Wayne's engine stopped because of a fuel system component failure. Cremona made it three from three, with Schmidt second and Todorov third. Despite the DNF in the last race Wayne had secured enough points, and by benefit of having a faster race time, to take the final spot on the podium for the overall result. Max Cremona took a maximum point win, with Nikola Todorov finishing second. The next round of the championship takes place in Znin, Poland on the 3rd - 4th June.

Round 2 - Znin, Poland (3rd - 4th June)

For the second round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Znin, Poland Wayne was again showing a good turn of speed and set the second fastest time in qualifying, just 0.08 seconds off pole. The fastest time was set by Max Cremona, with Nikola Todorov third. In the first race Wayne got a good start and held position to finish second, the win went to Cremona with Todorov third. Because of a serious incident in another class on one race was held. This result moves Wayne up to joint 2nd in the championship standings with two more rounds left. The next round of the championship takes place in Boretto, Italy on the 17th - 18th June.

Round 3 - Boretto, Italy (17th - 18th June)

At the third round of the UIM F:250 World Championship held in Boretto, Italy Wayne again had good speed. He set his fastest time in qualifying early in the session, a time that was only just bettered right at the end by Max Cremona, with Nikola Todorov third. In the first race however Wayne didn't get the best of starts and dropped to third on the run to the first turn, however he put in a superb drive to come through the field and finish in first place, Todorov was second and Pete Nydahl third. For the second race Wayne was again beaten to the first turn but this time was unable to make any progress and finished in third place, the win went to Todorov with Cremona second. For the third and final race Wayne struggled off the line and was fourth at the end of the first lap, with first place looking to be out of reach Wayne settled for a steady race as his position was good enough for the overall second place but needed to finish. The race win went to Cremona, with Todorov second and Nydhal third. The overall win went to Nikola Todorov, with Wayne second and Max Cremona third. The fourth and final round of the Championship takes place in Bad Sarrow, Germany on the 15th - 16th September.

Round 4 - Bad Saarow, Germany (15th - 16th September)

The fourth and final round of the UIM F:250 World Championship was held in Bad Saarow, Germany, which is a unique triangular circuit requiring changes to the normal boat setup. In qualifying Wayne was working through setup changes, getting quicker and quicker and set the second fastest time on his last lap. Pole position went to Max Cremona. In the first race Wayne got a bit of a slow start and lost some places on the first lap, but drove hard and moved forward, finishing in third place. The win went to Cremona, with Pete Nydahl second. It was a similar start for the second race, but Wayne managed to fight his way through to second place, with the win again going to Cremona, with Ingo Hepner finishing third. For the third and final race Waynes's engine bogged down at the start and he was fourth at the end of the first lap, but this position would be good enough for second overall so Wayne prioritised finishing rather than trying to gain positions. Cremona made it three from three, with Hydahl second and Hepner third.

The overall win went to Max Cremona, with Wayne second and Ingo Hepner third. In the final championship standings Max Cremona was crowned world champion, with Wayne in silver medal position and Nikola Todorov taking the bronze.
